In recent years, environmental protection and sustainability has become very hot topics in the planning, design and development process of the built environment. Hence the Planning & Development Divisional Council of HKIS launched a series of CPD events known as the Green Building Series with a view to helping members learning more about these issues. The second event of the Series will be a visit to the CIC Zero Carbon Building.
Buildings in HKSAR account for 60% of total greenhouse gas emissions, more than any other sectors. Indeed the building sector can play a major role in reducing the threat of climate change by helping transforming the built environment to be more energy-efficient and climate-friendly. Against this background the Hong Kong Construction Industry Council pioneered the Zero Carbon Building project, the first zero carbon building in HKSAR, in collaboration with the Government and relevant professional institutions. Zero Carbon Building will not only serve as a platform for the construction industry to share knowledge and expertise in low/zero carbon building design and technologies, but also help to raise community awareness of low carbon living.
The visit is aimed at offering members various eco-building design, details and technologies adopted in the planning and construction of Zero Carbon Building.
