Chairman's Message (June 2010)
Tree Maintenance
The tragic incident concerning a tree felling case in Shatin on a cycling track on 14 June inspires me to write this short article. A 15-metre high yellow poinciana was snapped off and collapsed onto the track in Yuen Chau Kok and seized the life of a cyclist after being sent to the hospital for critical treatment for two days. A similar incident indeed happened in Stanley on 2008 whence a university student was also killed by a fallen coral tree.

HKIS Guide to Good Property Management Practices
The HKIS has prepared a Guide to Good Property Management Practices (the Guide) with the aim of an attempt to promoting a better appreciation of property and facility management service an occupier of a property can reasonably expect. Successful property and facility management relies upon the degree of co-operation, mutual understanding and problem solving strategy adopted by all major stakeholders. This Guide is intended to be read by property owners, tenants, occupiers, property managers and those interested in property management.

Copies of this Guide may be purchased from the HKIS Office at HK$100 for HKIS members and HK$200 for non-members.

A research was commissioned by the PFMD to investigate related factors that
influence management and maintenance fees by statistically analysing the
