BIM models include building information such as dimensions and quantities, which can be extracted for the purpose of cost estimating and measurement. While some quantity surveyors are anticipating and going to enjoy the increase in efficiency and productivity brought by BIM technology, others are worrying BIM will replace them.  The speaker has received the question "Will BIM replace QS?" from many students, graduates and qualified quantity surveyors in the past few years.  The talk will analyse how far BIM is a threat to quantity surveyors.
