讲师	:	Mr Steven Yip Mr Yip is a Partner of Minter Ellison and he is one of the region’s leading advisors on construction issues and dispute resolution across Hong Kong and Asia. As well as rich private sector expertise, he has considerable experience in disputes involving government and public sector works. Mr Yip has handled numerous major arbitration and litigation proceedings. He is also a skilled mediator, instrumental in settling many major civil engineering and building disputes. He is currently handling disputes for several foreign clients on major projects in China, as well as Chinese investors and contractors working outside China. Recommended for his contentious capabilities, Mr Yip is described as a ‘leading individual’ in Hong Kong for construction by Chambers Asia, and a ‘leading lawyer’ in Chambers Global. Mr Yip is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (East Asia Branch) and an active member of the construction interest group of the Hong Kong Mediation Council.

详情	:	In the daily operations of a construction project, it is common to encounter difficult situations leading to different parties expressing conflicting views. Arbitration is one of the most commonly used means in resolving construction disputes. Given the many advantages promoted about arbitration, what are the risks that are involved in construction arbitration? This seminar will help attendees identify the risks of construction arbitration, and discuss the best practice in the management of these risks at various stages so that time and costs can be saved when disputes arise.

1.	The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
2.	A registration number will be generated for each application. The registration number is unique and non-transferrable. Members cannot proceed to payment if they do not apply the CPD event and obtain the registration number through the HKIS website.
3.	Payment can be made by cheque or by Credit Card (Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd. / American Express). Cheques should be made payable to “SURVEYORS SERVICES LTD.”. A separate cheque or Credit Card payment instruction form is required for each event/ application. You should write down the registration number and HKIS membership number at the back of your cheque. The HKIS Secretariat will update the payment status and your application will be confirm when HKIS Secretariat receive your payment.
4.	Payment by PayPal is also acceptable. Please register in our web site before the closing date for each event. Please be reminded that if you cannot settle the payment within 7 days from the date the HKIS Secretariat accepted your registration, your registration number will be invalid and your application will be rejected. Your name will not be included in the registration list and you cannot attend the concerned CPD event. (Not applicable for site visit / social event / joint event with other organisation)
5.	An official receipt which must be presented at the event, will be available for downloading from the "CPD Profile" under Members Corners when payment is received.
6.	Incomplete or wrongly completed registration will not be processed.
7.	In the event a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted, the event will be postponed and a new arrangement will be announced. Should the aforesaid warnings be lowered 4 hours before the event, the event will proceed as normal.
8.	If you have not received any reply from HKIS Secretariat within 7 days of the event, you may call the Secretariat at 2526 3679 to check the progress of your registration.
9.	The HKIS reserves the right of final decision and interpretation in the case of any disputes.

3.	While the HKIS has arranged Group Personal Accident insurance for members joining the above visit, members who have been accepted for joining the above visit can consider procuring an appropriate insurance policy to cover their own risks before attending the event.
