讲师	:	Ir Dr Wallace W L Lai Assistant Professor, Department of Land Surveying and Geo-informatics in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Ir. Dr. Wallace W. L. Lai is specialized on research, teaching and consultancy of nondestructive evaluation – civil engineering (NDE-CE) and underground utility surveying techniques since late 90s. He is currently an assistant professor in Department of Land Surveying and Geo-informatics in PolyU, a visiting scientist in BAM, and also as a technical assessor listed under the Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (HOKLAS), Innovation Technology Council of the HKSAR Government. Dr Lai’s main research interests include condition survey and diagnosis of engineering structures, underground utilities, construction materials, hydro-geophysics, and site of archaeology values, via nondestructive evaluation (NDE) and near-surface geophysical techniques. These techniques include ground penetrating radar, infrared thermography, electrical resistivity, etc.

详情	:	Utility surveying is an evolving discipline in Hong Kong as there is increasing demand about locating and diagnosing the densely populated underground utilities. Since open-up is never favorable, different non-destructive/near-surface geophysical evaluation technologies based on wave propagations are always preferred. This seminar will provide an introduction of these technologies and applications to ‘see through the unseen’.

1.	The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
2.	A registration number will be generated for each application. The registration number is unique and non-transferrable. Members cannot proceed to payment if they do not apply the CPD event and obtain the registration number through the HKIS website.
3.	Payment can be made by cheque or by Credit Card (Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd. / American Express). Cheques should be made payable to “SURVEYORS SERVICES LTD.”. A separate cheque or Credit Card payment instruction form is required for each event/ application. You should write down the registration number and HKIS membership number at the back of your cheque. The HKIS Secretariat will update the payment status and your application will be confirm when HKIS Secretariat receive your payment.
4.	Payment by PayPal is also acceptable. Please register in our web site before the closing date for each event. Please be reminded that if you cannot settle the payment within 7 days from the date the HKIS Secretariat accepted your registration, your registration number will be invalid and your application will be rejected. Your name will not be included in the registration list and you cannot attend the concerned CPD event. (Not applicable for site visit / social event / joint event with other organisation)
5.	An official receipt which must be presented at the event, will be available for downloading from the "CPD Profile" under Members Corners when payment is received.
6.	Incomplete or wrongly completed registration will not be processed.
7.	In the event a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted, the event will be postponed and a new arrangement will be announced. Should the aforesaid warnings be lowered 4 hours before the event, the event will proceed as normal.
8.	If you have not received any reply from HKIS Secretariat within 7 days of the event, you may call the Secretariat at 2526 3679 to check the progress of your registration.
9.	The HKIS reserves the right of final decision and interpretation in the case of any disputes.

3.	While the HKIS has arranged Group Personal Accident insurance for members joining the above visit, members who have been accepted for joining the above visit can consider procuring an appropriate insurance policy to cover their own risks before attending the event.
