Shenzhen University

Dr TANG is an Associate Researcher and a Shenzhen High-level Talent (Category C) at the Shenzhen University. He received his Ph.D. in Cartography and Geographic Information System from the State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping, and Remote Sensing at Wuhan University in 2017.

He has long been engaged in high-fidelity modeling for smart cities, visual SLAM, and multi-sensor fusion modeling theory and application research. Since joining Shenzhen University, he has led nine national, provincial, and municipal projects, and four industry projects. He has published over 50 papers, including 16 SCI papers as the first author or corresponding author, and holds more than 20 authorized patents (8 as the first inventor). He also serves as a Senior Editor for the journal Photogrammetric Record, Guest Editor for IEEE JASTAR, a member of the Chinese Virtual Geographic Environment Committee, as well as an expert of the ISO International Standards Committee TC211.

The Gho3D indoor full-space mapping system he developed won the second prize in the Guangdong Province University Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Competition. He received the Best Paper Award at the ISPRS TC1 Technical Committee International Conference in 2024, the Best Paper Award at the 2023 International Academic Forum on Non-exposed Space, and the Third Outstanding Scientific and Technological Academic Paper Collection in Shenzhen in 2023. Additionally, he received the First Prize for Teaching Achievements at Shenzhen University and the National Excellent Surveying and Mapping Engineering Award.

详情 :

Vegetation, especially trees, constitutes a crucial component of urban ecology. The three-dimensional reconstruction of these vegetation elements can be utilized for important applications such as urban shadow calculation, carbon storage assessment, and digital twins. However, existing urban 3D reconstruction technologies primarily focus on man-made structures like buildings, roads, and bridges, with limited research on vegetation 3D reconstruction methods and a lack of critical technical support. This report will explore the key challenges and technical issues in the 3D reconstruction of urban vegetation from the perspectives of carbon storage calculation and urban digital twin applications.

Additionally, the paper will present the work and achievements of our team in the 3D reconstruction of vegetation elements in recent years.
