詳情	:	Mr. John Battersby is a Quantity Surveyor by profession having worked in the construction industry for 44 years, 28 years of which have been spent working on projects in Hong Kong, China and South East Asia. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building, Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers, Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators and a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. John has acted as an expert witness several times, both in arbitration and litigation, in respect of additional cost/loss and expense/damages claims, measurement issues, adjustment of rates, valuation of variations and causes and effects of delays to construction works. He has acted both as party appointed and ?ingle joint expert?(or ?ribunal expert?. He is a Practising Member of the Academy of Experts and accredited by the Academy as an Expert. He has also been appointed as Arbitrator, Assessor, Mediator and Dispute Resolution Advisor several times. The programme will comprise: - a difference in approach compared to Building Measurement - Civil Engineering Methods of Measurement ?introducing CESMM3 (as used by MTR) and Government's Civil Engineering SMM - MTR Contract Provisions in relation to Bills of Quantities - Government Civil Engineering General Conditions of Contract in relation to Bills of Quantities - Common problems arising from the preparation of Civil Engineering BQs and the contract provisions for their resolution: - ambiguities and discrepancies - errors in descriptions or items omitted - errors in quantities - Best Practice for preparing the BQ to avoid problems arising from errors and omissions - Best Practice for overcoming difficulties imposed on BQ preparation due to: - time constraints - lack of design information - lack of site investigation information

1.	The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
2.	A registration number will be generated for each application. The registration number is unique and non-transferrable. Members cannot proceed to payment if they do not apply the CPD event and obtain the registration number through the HKIS website.
3.	Payment can be made by cheque or by Credit Card (Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd. / American Express). Cheques should be made payable to “SURVEYORS SERVICES LTD.”. A separate cheque or Credit Card payment instruction form is required for each event/ application. You should write down the registration number and HKIS membership number at the back of your cheque. The HKIS Secretariat will update the payment status and your application will be confirm when HKIS Secretariat receive your payment.
4.	Payment by PayPal is also acceptable. Please register in our web site before the closing date for each event. Please be reminded that if you cannot settle the payment within 7 days from the date the HKIS Secretariat accepted your registration, your registration number will be invalid and your application will be rejected. Your name will not be included in the registration list and you cannot attend the concerned CPD event. (Not applicable for site visit / social event / joint event with other organisation)
5.	An official receipt which must be presented at the event, will be available for downloading from the "CPD Profile" under Members Corners when payment is received.
6.	Incomplete or wrongly completed registration will not be processed.
7.	In the event a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted, the event will be postponed and a new arrangement will be announced. Should the aforesaid warnings be lowered 4 hours before the event, the event will proceed as normal.
8.	If you have not received any reply from HKIS Secretariat within 7 days of the event, you may call the Secretariat at 2526 3679 to check the progress of your registration.
9.	The HKIS reserves the right of final decision and interpretation in the case of any disputes.

1.	I confirm that I fully understand and accept the risk of joining the above visit. Under no circumstances shall The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors ("HKIS"), their staff or agents be held liable for the consequence of any accidents whether or not they are caused by the negligence of the HKIS, their staff and/or agents.
2.	Members participating in the above visit shall be in good health condition.
3.	While the HKIS has arranged Group Personal Accident insurance for members joining the above visit, members who have been accepted for joining the above visit can consider procuring an appropriate insurance policy to cover their own risks before attending the event.
4.	Claims related to COVID-19 and/or pandemics are excluded under the insurance policy procured by the HKIS.
