詳情	:	The speaker offers a land surveyor’s observation on the recommendations of the Adverse Possession Sub-Committee of the Law Reform Commission. The Sub-Committee claims that adverse possession would offer a practical solution to some of the land title problems. Albeit a handy traditional practice, it is not an efficient solution as claimed. Case studies on the results of adverse possessions and the Sub-Committee’s argument will be discussed. One of the major issues about the infringement of human rights, the Sub-committee has inevitably cited the decision of JA Pye v UK 2007. A re-visit to the case, and the British approach on the 10-year possession and 2-year notice period will be analyzed. Upon citing court cases that require a land surveyor to give expert witness on evidence of adverse possession, it would be interested to see what would be accepted or rejected as occupation evidence. Various contributions of expert land surveyors’ work in court are highlighted.

3.	Payment can be made by cheque or by Credit Card (Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd. / American Express). Cheques should be made payable to “SURVEYORS SERVICES LTD.”. A separate cheque or Credit Card payment instruction form is required for each event/ application. You should write down the registration number and HKIS membership number at the back of your cheque. The HKIS Secretariat will update the payment status and your application will be confirm when HKIS Secretariat receive your payment.
4.	Payment by PayPal is also acceptable. Please register in our web site before the closing date for each event. Please be reminded that if you cannot settle the payment within 7 days from the date the HKIS Secretariat accepted your registration, your registration number will be invalid and your application will be rejected. Your name will not be included in the registration list and you cannot attend the concerned CPD event. (Not applicable for site visit / social event / joint event with other organisation)
5.	An official receipt which must be presented at the event, will be available for downloading from the "CPD Profile" under Members Corners when payment is received.
6.	Incomplete or wrongly completed registration will not be processed.
7.	In the event a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted, the event will be postponed and a new arrangement will be announced. Should the aforesaid warnings be lowered 4 hours before the event, the event will proceed as normal.
8.	If you have not received any reply from HKIS Secretariat within 7 days of the event, you may call the Secretariat at 2526 3679 to check the progress of your registration.
9.	The HKIS reserves the right of final decision and interpretation in the case of any disputes.
