The Legislative Council (“LegCo”) Complex is the first purpose-built building for housing the Legislature of Hong Kong. It has a construction floor area of almost 38,000m2, comprising the Council block, the office block, and the adjacent open space area, namely the LegCo Square and the LegCo Garden.

The overall design concept of the LegCo Complex aims to project the independent and special status and the transparent and dignified image of the Legislature. The LegCo Complex demonstrates a strong emphasis on the vertical lines and features as the integrative design element. The interior design theme of the LegCo Complex integrates both elements of solemnity and prudence, and of openness and empathy, as symbolically represented by "square" (which denotes restraints) and "round" (which denotes changes) shapes used strategically in the interior design of the various lobby halls and conference rooms.

As part of the Tamar Development Project, the design of the LegCo Complex has adopted a variety of environmentally friendly features to make it a green and sustainable building, such as natural light funnel at the Chamber, green roof, sky garden and double-layered ventilated façade.

Members will be guided by Sr Tony Tse and the representatives from Legislative Council for visiting various parts of the LegCo Complex, including Public Gallery of the Chamber, Viewing Gallery and Access Corridor, Education Activities Room, Observation area of Conference Room 2 and 3, Memory Lane and Photo Gallery, and Education Galleries.
