(a) Beyond BIM – How the Ledger of Things will Revolutionize Construction IT?

Sr Quek Jin Keat will share how the next wave of financial technology and the internet of things will drive the changes that will eventually impact the construction industry.

At the heart of these drivers is the open source ledger of things which uses encryption technology which is distributed throughout its peer to peer network to authenticate informational transactions without the need to be “centralized”.   As the ledger of things is non-monopolistic, it truly promotes collaborations across the internet.  Building Information Modelling which is currently known by the acronym of BIM will truly become Building Information Management with the internet of things to come where physical assets are converted to digital assets with a far richer information base with future processes and applications yet to be discovered and invented.

(b) The QS Role in BIM Collaboration

The construction industry in major cities across the world is accepting BIM as an evolutionary tool for better coordinated design that will lead to higher quality and productive construction. To achieve the potentials that BIM promises, designers and builders are now more willing to collaborate and share their BIM models. How can the QS fit into this BIM Collaboration? What contribution and value add can he offer to his client? What would happen if he remains on the sideline? Sr Silas Loh will share his thoughts on this and how 5D BIM is done in his practice. He will also share on some case studies.
