Sr Raymond Chan has been working in the field of GP and PFM surveying in both civil service and private sector. In recent years he has been actively involved in the conservation of award winning historic buildings projects in Hong Kong including the Tai O Heritage Hotel, North Kowloon Magistracy now converted into SCAD Hong Kong, Mei Ho House, Lui Seng Chun, Blue House, the former Tai Po Police Station now converted into Green Hub, former Fanling Magistracy, and other conservation projects.

Green Hub is a historical building and was previously used as the Old Tai Po Police Station, and it was one of the first police stations in the rural area in the early 1899 until being vacated in 2000s following the establishment of modern policing stations and facilities in the new town area. Under the collaboration between Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG) and the HKSAR Government, the Old Tai Po Police Station (a Grade 1 historic building) was converted into a Green Hub for sustainable living. It started operation in 2015. This project is awarded with the UNESCO Asia Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage on 1 Sep 2016.

Green Hub provides educational programmes and training camps, has been organizing an Eat Well programme for the promotion of healthy eating, and running a heritage museum and trails.  The site is situated within close proximity to a wild life nesting area where house many of the migrating egrets returning each year for warmer weather and in hatching new babies.

The site is an excellent demonstration of modern green living and sustainable development that has an interesting historical background.  A cafe is opened and frequented by many of the local folks who have a good taste of quality green products.

The tour will provides an introduction to the historical, architectural and ecological significance of the Old Tai Po Police Station, as well as how an integrated conservation approach has been adopted to revitalize this Grade 1 historic heritage to today’s Green Hub for promoting sustainable living. The exhibition galleries, former police station jail cells, and other places of interest will be visited. Besides, participants can observe wild life and a good collection of special vegetation, and finish off with a warm cup of tea and a quick lunch if time permits. Lunch is not included in the visit. Participants can enjoy food at his/her own cost.
