詳情	:	About the Speaker Isabelle Chan Isabelle is a Senior Associate in the Construction and Advisory Disputes Group of Pinsent Masons Hong Kong, and is a solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong. She specializes in non-contentious construction and engineering matters, and is experienced in drafting and negotiating engineering procurement and construction (EPC), design and build and consultancy tenders and contracts for employers, contractors and consultants in international projects and Hong Kong domestic projects in the energy, transport and shipping sectors. Isabelle regularly advises clients on project and contract structuring and administration, and subcontract management. She is experienced in the use of FIDIC standard forms of contract. Isabelle has written for the International Construction Law Review on claims procedure under FIDIC. Thomas Ho Thomas is a construction lawyer in the Construction and Advisory Disputes Group of Pinsent Masons Hong Kong, focusing on non-contentious construction and engineering matters. He specializes in drafting and negotiating engineering procurement and construction (EPC) and design build and operation (DBO) in international projects and Hong Kong domestic projects in the energy, transport and infrastructure sectors, as well as project management matters. Thomas has written in the International Construction Law Review on the use of liquidated damages, for which his essay "Against Cavendish: Towards a Procedural Conception of the Penalty Doctrine" was awarded the Society of Construction Law Australia's Brooking Prize in 2016 for the best essay submitted in the field of construction law. He has also written for the Building Dispute Practitioners Society Newsletter on the interpretation of construction management contracts. Abstract For main contractors, passing of appropriate risks onto subcontractors is an important part of risk management. He will want to pass on as much of the risks associated with any subcontracted portions of the works as possible, in order to reduce his own exposure to employer. Where appropriate risks are passed, it ensures that the person best able to control the risk also has the strongest incentive to control the risk. Against this context, the seminar endeavours to explore effective ways of subcontracting and imposing obligations on the subcontractor on a "back to back" basis.

1.	The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
2.	A registration number will be generated for each application. The registration number is unique and non-transferrable. Members cannot proceed to payment if they do not apply the CPD event and obtain the registration number through the HKIS website.
3.	Payment can be made by cheque or by Credit Card (Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd. / American Express). Cheques should be made payable to “SURVEYORS SERVICES LTD.”. A separate cheque or Credit Card payment instruction form is required for each event/ application. You should write down the registration number and HKIS membership number at the back of your cheque. The HKIS Secretariat will update the payment status and your application will be confirm when HKIS Secretariat receive your payment.
4.	Payment by PayPal is also acceptable. Please register in our web site before the closing date for each event. Please be reminded that if you cannot settle the payment within 7 days from the date the HKIS Secretariat accepted your registration, your registration number will be invalid and your application will be rejected. Your name will not be included in the registration list and you cannot attend the concerned CPD event. (Not applicable for site visit / social event / joint event with other organisation)
5.	An official receipt which must be presented at the event, will be available for downloading from the "CPD Profile" under Members Corners when payment is received.
6.	Incomplete or wrongly completed registration will not be processed.
7.	In the event a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted, the event will be postponed and a new arrangement will be announced. Should the aforesaid warnings be lowered 4 hours before the event, the event will proceed as normal.
8.	If you have not received any reply from HKIS Secretariat within 7 days of the event, you may call the Secretariat at 2526 3679 to check the progress of your registration.
9.	The HKIS reserves the right of final decision and interpretation in the case of any disputes.

Under no circumstances shall The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors ("HKIS"), their staff or agents be held liable for the consequence of any accidents whether or not they are caused by the negligence of the HKIS, their staff and/or agents.

3.	While the HKIS has arranged Group Personal Accident insurance for members joining the above visit, members who have been accepted for joining the above visit can consider procuring an appropriate insurance policy to cover their own risks before attending the event.
4.	Claims related to COVID-19 and/or pandemics are excluded under the insurance policy procured by the HKIS.
