PDD/GPD Joint Fellowship Dinner On March 18, the Planning and Development Division/ General Practice Division Joint Fellowship Dinner was successfully held at the World Trade Club with some 50 members participating to share the warm fellowship spirit. On behalf of the Council, I would like to extend our great gratitude to the event organizers, Ms Karen Chan and Mr Edwin Tsang. 2010 The 6th Across-the-Strait Geomatics Conference Our divisional representative, Mr Edwin Tsang will continue to contribute in the HKIS Organizing Team for the 2010 The 6th Across-the-Strait Geomatics Conference; which will be held in Hong Kong later this year. The Organizing Team is now chaired by our HKIS President. Assessment of Professional Competence In the second Council Meeting held on March 18, the Council appointed an APC Panel of three fellow members to conduct a Professional Interview for the Division's first APC Candidate pending the final vetting process of her APC Final Report by our BOE representative. CPD Events In March 2010, there were two CPD events successfully held on March 1 and March 11 respectively. On March 1, we had the CPD Talk on Revitalizating Industrial Buildings" by Mr Lauire Lo, Head of Development Opportunities Office of the HKSAR Government Development Bureau. On March 11, we had the CPD talk on "Adding Value Through Design" by Dr Chan Lai Kiu, Director of Design and Project of the Hysan Development Company Limited. Both the aforesaid CPD Talks were well received by our members with a high turn-out rate. In April, we shall have two CPD Talks. On April 9, we shall have a briefing forum conducted by Rocco Design Architects Limited regarding the Draft Design and Management Guidelines on Public Open Space in Private Developments. It is a joint event of PDD and PFMD. Another CPD event will be a health talk by Dr Isaac Yip on April 29 concerning mental health management in workplace. Details of this CPD talk are to be announced by the HKIS Secretariat in due course.
