Message from GPD Chairman (December 2011)

New GPD Council Formed

 

As members are aware, the GPD AGM was held on 17 November 2011 at the HKIS Surveyor Learning Centre. As much as 214 members turned up to elect 20 council members, out of 23 candidates. A total of 213 valid votes were casted.

 

In the first GPD Council Meeting (for the new term) held on 30 November 2011, election of office bearers and key post holders were conducted. 

 

Francis Ng, K K Chiu and Edward Au were nominated as representatives of GPD to the HKIS General Council. Members also agreed to nominate Mr Slayman Chan and Simon Poon and Ms Elsa Ng and Connie Hung as Co-opted Members.

 

Other nominations were also conducted to take up the posts within GPD Council and also in HKIS Boards/ HKIS Committees/ Working Groups.

2011 Election Committee Subsector Elections - Architectural, Surveying and Planning Subsector

 

Two GPD Council Members Mr Francis Ng and Dr Lawrence Poon were elected as members of the Election Committee under the “Architectural, Surveying and Planning Subsector” to elect the Chief Executive in the 2012 Election. Congratulations to both of them.

 

Consultation on Regulation of Sale of First-hand Residential Properties by Legislation

 

A Report of the Steering Committee on Regulation of Sale of First-hand Residential Properties by  Legislation was just published the Housing Bureau. GPD Council Member Dr Lawrence Poon is the HKIS representative in the Steering Committee. He offers comments and suggestions on enforcement. A series of pragmatic recommendations in relation to the regulation of sale of first-hand residential properties by way of legislation are now introduced by the administration. A public consultation exercise on the proposed legislation is now being conducted.

 

In the past few months, Dr Poon gave advice on the types of,  and specifications for, property information in relation to sales, including saleable area and pricing information in any types of publicity including sales brochures, price lists, show flats, and promotional materials at all stages of sale. He came up
with practical recommendations to the Steering Committee. Members may wish to note the public consultation document and offer views to the Bureau, if appropriate.
