APC Part I Written Assessment
The APC Part I Written Assessment was successfully held on 14 June 2014 with encouraging results obtained. The assessment has smoothed out after the implementation of the new APC system. I want to take this opportunity to express my sincerest gratitude to the LSD Education Committee.

Boundary Survey Advisory Committee (BSAC)
The BSAC has geared up to provide expert advice on the boundary survey aspect. During a recent BSAC meeting, the “Guidance Notes of Land Boundary Survey” were fully reviewed and will be published very soon. Please stay tuned.

Liaisons with the RICS Geomatics Professional Group (GPG)
With regard to the exploration of the possible mutual recognition of membership between the LSD and RICS GPG, a joint task force has been set up and its first meeting was held on 4 August 2014. As quite a few members in the industry are concerned about such an arrangement, we’ll keep you informed of its latest developments.

Construction and Engineering Surveying Affairs
The research to collect relevant employment statistics of HKIS members who work as LS Consultants in Government Engineering Projects is in progress. The council considers that the statistical findings are also useful for reference by the Board of Membership to devise a sustainable development strategy for the institute. Thanks go to the task force for its tremendous efforts in this area.

2014 Land Surveying Division Annual Dinner
Our Annual Dinner with the theme of “Development & Surveying”will be held on the evening of Friday, 24 October 2014, in Junior Ballroom I, Level 3, at the Royal Plaza Hotel 帝京酒店. The Under Secretary of the Development Bureau will be our guest of honour. Let’s have a great time there.
