Message from BSD Chairman (December2014)

It is my honour to be the new Chairman of the BSD. I must thank the past chairmen and members for supporting me. I shall do my best to serve members of the BSD and will need your continued support in the coming 12 months.

BSD Council Meeting

The first BSD Council Meeting was held on 16 December 2014. Representatives of the various Boards, Committees, Working Groups, Organising Committees, etc., were considered and nominated. We need more helping hands on the CPD Panel and OC for the BS Conference 2015. BS member who is interested in joining one of these groups can send an email to me.

Meeting between the BSD, Professional Building Surveying Consultants Association of HK (PBSCA), and the Architectural Services Department

I attended this bi-annual meeting with Vice Chairman Sr Kenny Tse, Sr Samson Wong, Sr Dennis Wong, Sr Daniel Pong, and Sr Nathan Lee on 9 December 2014. We were informed that recently, the ArchSD had invited three tenders for Consultancy for Condition Survey to Government Properties. This is a pilot exercise with similar tender invitations to be invited in the coming years. Members may refer to the Development Bureau’s website below for future consultancy projects. http://www.archsd.gov.hk/en/tenders-notices/consultancies/forecast-of-consultancies/architectural-services-department-(archsd).aspx

Forum on Basic Liberalisation of Trade in Services (基本實現服務貿易自由化政策宣講會)

I was invited by the Development Bureau to attend the captioned Forum on 18 December 2014 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Officials from the HKSAR Government and the Mainland Central Government jointly briefed all attendees on the gist of the new 《關於內地在廣東與香港基本實現服務貿易自由化的協議》, which was under the framework of CEPA and signed on that day.  Extension of mutual recognition of other professions is being explored and the opportunity of Hong Kong practitioners to practice in Guangdong was encouraged with policy aid of the Central Government.

Communication

Communication between members is very important. I shall encourage effective two-way communications through disseminating information, sharing, and collecting members’ comments and feedback to achieve this goal.

As you may know, we have a designated e-mail account,  [email protected], to facilitate e-communications with BS members and  Authorised Persons (AP) so that they can share their experiences and practices in the application of the Buildings Ordinance.

For members who would like to contact me on any issue, please e-mail me at: [email protected].

I look forward to working with you to improve and promote the BS profession!
