This is my first QSD Chairman’s Message for the year 2014-2015.  Wishing you all a prosperous and fruitful 2015!!

 

Quantity Surveying Division Annual General Meeting (QSD AGM)

On 26 November 2014, the QSD AGM was successfully held at the World Trade Centre Club, Causeway Bay. The following Office Bearers and Council Members were elected for the year 2014-2015:

The two representatives from the Young Surveyors Group have yet to be confirmed. Apparently, no nomination for a representative of our Associate Members was received. At the QSD AGM, I had the pleasure of representing the Council to pass out tokens of appreciation to the outgoing Chairman, Sr Keith Yim, for the great leadership he demonstrated and diligent work he performed from 2012-2014. Many thanks also go to the outgoing Council Members, without whose support the QSD would not have been able to achieve such tremendous success.

 

Chairman’s Report for 2013-2014

Sr Keith Yim presented his Chairman’s Report for 2013-2014 during the QSD AGM and thanked the QSD Council and all fellow members for their continued support and participation, which made possible the success of the various

2015 Year Plan

The QSD Council faces some challenging tasks in the coming year. I presented the plan for 2014-2015 at the QSD AGM with an emphasis on the following:

•      Mainland issues

-       Organising the third batch of exercises to assess the qualifications of HKIS/CECA members under the Reciprocity Agreement.

-       Organising a joint conference with CECA.

-       Organising a seminar in Foshan.

•      Organising a joint conference with AIQS or other organisations.

•      Finalising and publishing a new batch of two Practice Notes for QS and the translation of the previous batch of six Practice Notes for QS.

•      Attending the 2015 PAQS Congress in Japan.

•      Revisiting and following up on the independent role of cost consultants in infrastructure projects, the security of payments, etc.

•      Following up on the implementation of NEC3 with the Development Bureau.

•      Maintaining continuous QSD activities such as the QSD Annual Dinner, Newly-Qualified Members’ Welcoming Party, QSD Scholarships, etc.

•      Drafting an MOU with KIS and following up on the MOU with South Africa and Ghana.

•      Organising CPD/PQSL events in diversified areas, including joint CPD events with other institutions.
