The construction industry, and the forms of building contract it uses, continues to evolve. Against this backdrop, Rachael Guan, who has both spoken to HKIS before, will present a useful reminder of the core duties a contractor and an employer should expect to have when engaging on a project, and examine approaches taken by a number of Hong Kong and international standard forms. She will conclude with a consideration of the conditions by which practical / substantial completion is deemed to be achieved, which is different in Hong Kong from other common law jurisdictions.
