Benjamin Au has more than 20 years experience as a solicitor. He is the partner of Messrs Benjamin Au & Billy Chan Solicitors. His practice is predominantly in civil and commercial litigation. He has handled a variety of cases including Company and Commercial litgiations, Contracts, Employment, Shareholders' dispute, Directors' Duties, Land and Conveyancing matters, Construction litgations and Arbitration, Contentious Probate and Will and Trust Matters etc. During his litigation practice, Benjamin has worked with many experts in different areas, including experts in handwriting examinations, quantity surveying, forensic accounting, property valuations, mining and production, personal injury assessment in different medical fields. Benjamin has also delivered talks and seminars on various ocassions and is the speaker panelist for the Law Society of Hong Kong.

Litigation is a complicated and technical process. The course will give an introduction of the different stages in litigation and its significance; applications in urgent situations, the role of barristers, solicitors and experts, practical difficulties encountered in management of client, the legal team, time and costs involved and the impact on the parties. There will also be case studies involving quantification of damages in a typical sale and purchase of property dispute.
