Thomas is the Honorary Secretary of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. He was also the Chairman (2011-12) of the Quantity Surveying Division of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. He is the Managing Director of TLS & Associates Ltd. and has worked as a quantity surveyor for over 30 years both in building and infrastructure works. Thomas is also an accredited mediator of HKMAAL, HKIAC and HKIS/HKIA.

Leadership is an essential element in management. However it appears that little attention was paid to its importance in the construction industry. In this talk, Thomas will analyze the different styles of leadership and their effectiveness in the project implementation. Thomas will also reveal some of the relationships between leadership theories and construction management functions which must be considered by project managers and project leaders before choosing the style of leadership that suit their projects.
