As a NGO with social conscience, HKHS is committed to provide affordable housing for the needs of the community.  With the continuing increase in the population of aged people, an innovative approach for the design and planning of a sustainable elderly housing cum healthcare model meeting the social, physiological and psychological needs of the seniors is imminently required.

HKHS adopts a corporate-social integration approach in the planning and development of the social-friendly elderly housing project enabling Aging-in-Place and cross generation support.  In the past ten years HKHS has explored and pioneered a sustainable elderly housing cum healthcare model to meet the needs of different income groups of the seniors.

In the redevelopment of the aged rental estate the tenants of which are also aging, HKHS has adopted an Integrated Redevelopment Model to incorporate purpose built elderly rental units as well as necessary social and healthcare facilities into the new development.  The inclusion of a variety of social, cultural and economic elements will not only create an age-friendly liveable environment that will last but also a sustainable community where different age cohorts interact.  With the provisions of social and care services and cross generation support within the neighbourhood, dependency of the aged people will likely be reduced.
