In recent years, environmental protection and sustainability has become very hot topics in the planning, design and development process of the built environment. Hence the Planning & Development Divisional Council of HKIS launched a series of CPD events known as the Green Building Series with a view to helping members learning more about these issues. The first event will be an introduction to sustainability and green buildings.

The event aims to introduce the concept and practice of "sustainability" and the trend of the green buildings development in the real estate development market. Green building features and zero carbon building will also be discussed with examples. The role of surveyors in green building design, operation and management will also be highlighted.

The event is targeted at surveyors with only preliminary knowledge and experience on green buildings.  It will also cover the route to become a BEAM Professional, the training required, application procedures, preparation, assessment and sharing.
