Ir WAN Kam-ming first joined the Hong Kong Fire Services Department in 1992 as a Probationary Station Officer and performed front-line operational duties. Later, he gained fire protection experience in formulating fire safety improvement measures for existing commercial premises and handling prosecution cases regarding the contravention of Fire Services Ordinances. Subsequently, he was responsible for the urban search & rescue training in the Fire Services Training School. Ir WAN attended the urban search & rescue trainings in Australia and China and the heavy road traffic accident training in the UK. At present, Ir WAN is a Divisional Officer of the New Projects Division, responsible for vetting of general building plans and formulating fire service requirements for new buildings as well as alteration & addition works for existing buildings.

In the seminar, Ir WAN would go through the building plans processing mechanism and criteria on approval of plans in Hong Kong.  The statutory role of Fire Services Department in the local plan processing system would be delineated in detail.  The Code of Practice for Minimum Fire Service Installations and Equipment, which provides guidance in formulating building fire service installations, would also be briefly introduced in the seminar.
