Mr Anthony Chan is a Registered Architect and Authorized Person with experience in small hotel development. His recent projects include a 60-room hotel in Wan Chai and an 84-room small boutique hotel in Shum Shui Po which is currently under construction.

 

This CPD event will give participants an understanding of the issues involved in developing small hotels in Hong Kong from the point of view of an experienced architect. The seminar will provide an overview of the statutory procedures and technical issues regarding small hotel development projects in Hong Kong. The following procedures and issues will be covered through a presentation and discussions:-

 

(A) Statutory Issues

  1. Definition of “Hotel/Guesthouse”
  2. Definition of “Small Hotel”
  3. Transport and parking issues
  4. Section 16 submission to the Town Planning Board and other planning issues

  1. Central AC/hot water installation

  1. Prevailing issues regarding hotel/guesthouse licensing
  2. Discussion regarding converting an existing office building to a small hotel
