Speaker : David Fung
David Fung is a Hong Kong Registered Architect. BIM has been the main design and documentation tools for his works for over 17 years. BIM projects include residential towers, houses, offices, shopping centres, churches, universities, logistic centre, MTR train stations. He lead BIM teams and won the Hong Kong BIM and International Revit Experience Award 2007, HK BIM Award 2009, 2010 and received the Best BIM Design Award in the Singapore International BIM Buzz competition 2012. He teaches BIM technology in different universities in Hong Kong, China and overseas such as HKU, PolyU, HKUSPACE, Chu Hai College, Tianjin and TsingHua University. He led internal BIM training to architects and designers. He was also speakers for various BIM forums and conferences to different professional institutions in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tianjin, Beijing, Tokyo and Seoul. He was Chairman of Autodesk Industry Advisory Board aiming also at promoting the BIM technology. David is also involved in establishing Hong Kong and China BIM Standards. He won CIC’s BIMer of the Year 2014 Excellence Award.

Sunny Choi
Sunny Choi is a qualified Quantity Surveyor and is now working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in the Housing Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government. Sunny received training in building technology and management in the previous Hong Kong Polytechnic and is a Chartered Construction Manager. He has joined the quantity surveying profession for over 30 years and has participated in different fields like technical audit, cost management and contract administration of construction and maintenance works. Since 2010, he has actively explored the applications of BIM in quantity surveying works. He is a RICS Certified BIM Manager and is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Building Information Modelling (HKIBIM). He has served as a council member in the Quantity Surveying Division of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) and the Executive Committee of the buildingSMART Hong Kong (bSHK) since 2013.

  1. BIM is a new technology and more and more industry stakeholders demanding the BIM application in the many kinds of BIM project.  However, how to start the BIM is always a question of the client, consultants, government, contractor, etc., The speaker will share the experience on BIM engagement.
  2. BIM is not simply a 3D model or a design software tool, it is the process of developing and using three-dimensional, digital representation of building data throughout its life cycle.   The Hong Kong Housing Authority has applied BIM in different stages of the public housing development - from planning, design and costing to site operations, safety and programming.  The speaker will share the Authority's experience on how BIM will benefit project design and management.
