Speaker : 1. Mr. Billy Tam, Director of TCA [Thomas Chow Architects Ltd], assisted by
a. Peggy Seto, Senior Architect at TCA
b. Amy Ho, BIM Leader at TCA
Hong Kong architect Billy Tam was the winner of the Young Architects’ Award of HKIA in 2005. He had participated in numerous institutional buildings including the Diocesan Boys’ School Primary Division, and the Sports and Dormitory Complex at DBS which had been awarded the prestigious HKIA Annual Award- Medal of the Year in 2004 and 2007 respectively. He is currently the Lead Architect of Island School Redevelopment project, an international school project in Hong Kong with full BIM implementation starting from the concept design stage.

Peggy Seto graduated from the University of Hong Kong and has 8 years of working experience in various building types in Hong Kong, such as institutional, private residential, commercial, infrastructure and retail etc. She is currently working on Island School Redevelopment project with BIM as an effective tool for design development and coordination tool with client and other consultants.

Amy Ho received her architecture degree from the University of Houston. She has over 10 years of working experience in the U.S. She is a passionate advocate of BIM. With years of hands-on experience in BIM projects in the States, she is currently the BIM Leader of TCA in charge of a number of Hong Kong projects including the Island School Redevelopment project and a design hub revitalization project.

Details :
  1. Being one of the most advanced design software tool, Architect or designer could not only use BIM to build up 3D model, produce layout plan and section but also create walkthrough animations and 3D rendering as well as other advanced design stimulations. Through merging the design practice with BIM, more innovative, dynamic and 3-dimensional design could be created. The speaker will share his practical experience on how BIM could benefit the design development process and overall design management.

  1. This presentation will discuss how Building Information Modelling (BIM) for design & construction of smart buildings can be applied in the development of a Smart City. As the cost of hardware falls and complexity gets shifted to the cloud, a network built on BIM and GIS data has the potential to become the infrastructure on which the ‘internet of things’ runs. In some cases, sensors are being connected to devices whose performance can be tracked and analyzed. Applying Smart BIM will enable new insights into building or city performance for our better future.
