Details :

Due to the demanding nature of quantity surveying tasks, construction projects and the ever-updating technologies, quantity surveyors are under high stress level.  Stress may not only affect their work performance, but can also be a real cost for any project, organization, and industry (e.g., more than 10M working days were lost due to work-related stress in the UK annually; Health and Safety Executive, 2012).  To survive in such a demanding and dynamic work environment, it is important for surveyors to manage their stress effectively.  Through various formal and informal Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) skills that can be conducted at anytime and anywhere, such as mindful sitting and eating, MBSR has proven to be effective in alleviating an individual’s distress levels, both psychological and physical ones.

This talk, facilitated by trained facilitators, aims to i) raise surveyors’ awareness of work-related stressors, stress and stress management, and ii) equip them with sustainable MBSR skills.
