Speaker	:	Sr K K Cheung, Partner, Construction & Arbitration Department, Deacons KK is a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and Royal Institution of Surveyors. He is also the Honourary Legal Adviser of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and the Hong Kong Construction Sub-Contractors Association. He acts for developers, contractors and sub-contractors in major construction dispute resolution. KK also has wide experiences in handling cross-border disputes, particularly those between Hong Kong and Mainland China. He acts for both local and overseas clients in arbitrations and litigation in Hong Kong and various parts of Mainland China. He is a member of the panels of the arbitrators in the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and China International Economic and Trade Commission. He has been appointed as arbitrator and mediator in resolving construction and commercial disputes from time to time. He is acknowledged as a leading individual in the area of construction in both Asia Pacific Legal 500 (2012 - 2016 editions) and Chambers Asia Pacific (2014 - 2016 editions). Mr Joseph Chung, Partner, Construction & Arbitration Department, Deacons Joseph had practised as a barrister for many years before he became a solicitor in 2001. Over the years in his practice as a lawyer, he has been involved in many high profile construction projects, including the Hong Kong airport core project and the Express Rail Link. He is currently involved in the Commission of Inquiry into Excess Lead found in Drinking Water. Joseph advises developers, contractors, sub-contractors and project consultants. Joseph also sits as an arbitrator. He is listed on the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre’s List of Arbitrators and is on the Panel of Arbitrators of The Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration. Joseph regularly gives talks on a wide range of construction topics including NEC. He is recommended in the area of construction in the Asia Pacific Legal 500 (2014 - 2016 editions) and acknowledged as one of the leading lawyers in the area of construction in Chambers Asia Pacific (2014 - 2016 editions). Mr Allen Lai, Senior Consultant, Charlton Martin Consultants Limited Allen Lai is the Senior Consultant of Charlton Martin Consultants Limited. He is a qualified quantity surveyor with over 20 years experience in the construction industry working on building, engineering and E&M projects. He is frequently involved in preparation of expert evidence. Allen has also been involved in the implementation of the NEC for various work departments and utility company’s projects. He has provided a number of in-house training workshops and public seminars on NEC, and had delivered a seminar providing an insight on the use of NEC3 Term Service Contract to the HKIS.

Details	:	The talk will focus on issues that frequently arise from quantum claims such as global claims, formula approach to claims for overheads and direct cost. The talk will also give some practical tips on how to deal with such issues.

1.	The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
2.	A registration number will be generated for each application. The registration number is unique and non-transferrable. Members cannot proceed to payment if they do not apply the CPD event and obtain the registration number through the HKIS website.
3.	Payment can be made by cheque or by Credit Card (Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd. / American Express). Cheques should be made payable to “SURVEYORS SERVICES LTD.”. A separate cheque or Credit Card payment instruction form is required for each event/ application. You should write down the registration number and HKIS membership number at the back of your cheque. The HKIS Secretariat will update the payment status and your application will be confirm when HKIS Secretariat receive your payment.
4.	Payment by PayPal is also acceptable. Please register in our web site before the closing date for each event. Please be reminded that if you cannot settle the payment within 7 days from the date the HKIS Secretariat accepted your registration, your registration number will be invalid and your application will be rejected. Your name will not be included in the registration list and you cannot attend the concerned CPD event. (Not applicable for site visit / social event / joint event with other organisation)
5.	An official receipt which must be presented at the event, will be available for downloading from the "CPD Profile" under Members Corners when payment is received.
6.	Incomplete or wrongly completed registration will not be processed.
7.	In the event a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted, the event will be postponed and a new arrangement will be announced. Should the aforesaid warnings be lowered 4 hours before the event, the event will proceed as normal.
8.	If you have not received any reply from HKIS Secretariat within 7 days of the event, you may call the Secretariat at 2526 3679 to check the progress of your registration.
9.	The HKIS reserves the right of final decision and interpretation in the case of any disputes.
