This interactive CPD serves as an introduction of the concepts of conservation and heritage in Hong Kong. It aims to arouse the interests of Surveyors in conservation of historic buildings. The two speakers have decades of experience in the care, maintenance, conservation, management and revitalization of old buildings. Both speakers have been substantially involved in the work of the Antiquities Advisory Board (AAB). The talk will cover the legal framework of heritage conservation, roles of the Antiquities and Monuments Office, functions of the AAB, classification of historic buildings, grading criteria and the review on policy of the conservation of the built heritage in 2014.  The talk will also entail a discussion on what Surveyors can contribute to the conservation of the built heritage in Hong Kong.
