Details	:	The collapse of green roof and the fatal fire accident at mini-storages are two tragedies which not just result in shock to the public, but also generate lots of discussion in the community. People will have the queries on the building safety especially for the premises with alteration/conversion work done or change in use. GREEN ROOF The green roof collapse has generated an inevitable public fear which is not hard to understand. There is such an urgent need to inspect those greening works which were not erected under the proper supervision. However, this does not mean that we have to arrange the mass removal of the green roof which has already been installed as some people advocate. MINI-STORAGES For the no.4-alarm fire, the investigation and inspection are still in progress by the government. The cause of the fire is yet to confirm but we do learn that there are plentiful of mini-storages of similar nature and design in the territories. OUR SPEAKERS Sr David CHAN, our Distinguished Building Surveyor, will host this CPD and discuss with fellow members on these two hot issues in the 1.5 hours talk. Sr CHAN took lead to form HKIS volunteer survey team on two building tragedies, namely building collapse at MaTauWai some 6 years ago and the roof collapse recently. Sr David CHAN will share in the first part of the talk on the observations in the recent green roof inspection and discuss on some technical concerns on the construction of green roof. In the second part of the talk, our Immediate Past President, Sr Vincent HO will be on stage too and co-host a discussion forum jointly with Sr CHAN to discuss with fellow members on the building and fire safety concerns arising from the fire accident at mini-storages.

1.	The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
2.	A registration number will be generated for each application. The registration number is unique and non-transferrable. Members cannot proceed to payment if they do not apply the CPD event and obtain the registration number through the HKIS website.
3.	Payment can be made by cheque or by Credit Card (Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd. / American Express). Cheques should be made payable to “SURVEYORS SERVICES LTD.”. A separate cheque or Credit Card payment instruction form is required for each event/ application. You should write down the registration number and HKIS membership number at the back of your cheque. The HKIS Secretariat will update the payment status and your application will be confirm when HKIS Secretariat receive your payment.
4.	Payment by PayPal is also acceptable. Please register in our web site before the closing date for each event. Please be reminded that if you cannot settle the payment within 7 days from the date the HKIS Secretariat accepted your registration, your registration number will be invalid and your application will be rejected. Your name will not be included in the registration list and you cannot attend the concerned CPD event. (Not applicable for site visit / social event / joint event with other organisation)
5.	An official receipt which must be presented at the event, will be available for downloading from the "CPD Profile" under Members Corners when payment is received.
6.	Incomplete or wrongly completed registration will not be processed.
7.	In the event a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted, the event will be postponed and a new arrangement will be announced. Should the aforesaid warnings be lowered 4 hours before the event, the event will proceed as normal.
8.	If you have not received any reply from HKIS Secretariat within 7 days of the event, you may call the Secretariat at 2526 3679 to check the progress of your registration.
9.	The HKIS reserves the right of final decision and interpretation in the case of any disputes.
