Code : 2016162
Event Name : 3D Mapping from Multi-Platform Multi-Sensor Data in Urban Areas
CPD Code : Formal Events
Speaker : Dr. Bo WU, MRICS

Associate Professor
Department of Land Surveying & Geo-Informatics
Hong Kong Polytechnic University

Co-Chair of the ISPRS Working Group: Geo-Visualization and Virtual Reality
Council Member of Hong Kong Society for Remote Sensing
Former Vice President of the Hong Kong GIS Association

Dr. Wu’s research area focuses on Photogrammetry, Planetary Mapping, and GIS. He worked on NASA’s 2003 Mars Exploration Rover Mission participating scientist project and made contributions to precision Mars topographic mapping and rover localization by developing novel photogrammetric techniques. Dr. Wu developed innovative approaches for precision lunar topographic mapping by integrating multi-platform multi-sensor remote sensing data. Invited by China Academy of Space Technology, Dr. Wu worked on landing site mapping and selection of the Chinese Chang’E-3 lunar landing mission, and is currently working on mapping and analysis of the Chang’E-5 landing site and on China’s future mission to explore Mars. Dr. Wu also actively worked on 3D mapping from multi-platform multi-sensor data in metropolitan areas such as Hong Kong.
