Sr Lam is a qualified quantity surveyor and a director of Rider Levett Bucknall Ltd. Sr Lam has a broad range of project experience of different nature and complexities serving many major clients and many of the projects were multi-billion dollar projects. Her sector experience includes institution projects, high-end hospitality, hotel and gaming projects, commercial, retail and residential projects across the public and private sectors. Being a principal member of the project teams, her involvement has been instrumental in the successful delivery of many iconic projects. Sr Lam’s involvement in many complex projects with challenging clients’ needs has provided her with invaluable experience in managing construction costs within project budgets that could bring best value in project delivery.

Construction cost is probably one of the largest single components of capital cost investment in a project development, apart from land cost.  Managing and controlling construction cost within budget is always set as one of the top of Clients’ project objectives.  Cost Planning would involve certain techniques and approaches that would ultimately provide best value for money in meeting this objective.  In this talk, the speaker will share with you various techniques and approaches in cost planning including different types of estimates at different stages of a project, and how they can bring best value to the design.  The talk will also include practical examples of value engineering solutions in some previous projects.
