Kieran has over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, including 10 years at senior management level in major contracting organisations. A Chartered Quantity Surveyor by profession, with an LLM (with Distinction) in Construction Law and Arbitration, Kieran has worked for both contracting companies and construction consultants providing a range of services from commercial and contract management, advice and strategies; claims management, including preparation and defence; arbitration support; security of payments adjudications; and quantum expert witness support.

Kieran’s experience has been gained in civils, infrastructure, rail and building works (Hong Kong & Malaysia), mining processes and power plants (Australia), and oil and gas/petro-chemical (Malaysia, Singapore & Middle East) all under a variety of contract forms and arrangements.

Kieran has extensive experience in the provision of contractual advice, the preparation, assessment and negotiation of contractual claims and dispute resolution procedures in arbitration and litigation and is also a Chartered Arbitrator.

In seeking to address long standing payment and cash flow issues within the local construction industry, the Government of Hong Kong SAR will imminently be introducing a legislation addressing security of payments within the industry. The legislation will affect ALL parties actively engaged in construction activities in Hong Kong, including Employers, Main Contractors, Sub-Contractors and consultants. When introduced, the legislation will be immediately enforceable and beware those who are not prepared!
