Thomas is the President of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. He was also the Chairman (2011-12) of the Quantity Surveying Division of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. He is the Managing Director of TLS & Associates Ltd. and has worked as a quantity surveyor for over 30 years both in building and infrastructure works. Thomas is also an accredited mediator of HKIAC, HKIS/HKIA and HKMAAL.

Sr Paul Wong, MSc, FHKIS, MRICS, RPS(QS), MCIOB, MHKICM, MAIB, MHIREA, FHKCI

Paul is the Immediate Past Chairman of the Quantity Surveying Division of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. He is the Director and General Manager of Chinney Construction Co., Ltd. and has worked for QS consultants and contractors for over 28 years. He has delivered various lectures in universities, and talks in conferences and seminars. He is also currently registered as the Technical Director and Authorized Signatory under the category of Registered General Building Contractor in the Buildings Department. He received the Construction Contract Administrator Grand Award (Addition and Alteration Works Category) of the Construction Management Award 2016, organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers in early this year.

Hong Kong construction cost has driven up significantly in the past few years and the causative reasons can be attributed to various reasons.  Currently, the construction cost in Hong Kong is the top in Asia and the 2nd highest in the world.

 

In this talk, the speakers will share their experiences in the escalation of construction cost in Hong Kong in the past few years.  They will give suggestions to make a stop of high construction cost.
