To respond to the public aspiration and needs for access to official maps and location information of public facilities, the Lands Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government has continued to enhance its online geospatial information services via “GeoInfo Map” (www.map.gov.hk) and its mobile map app named “MyMapHK” with a view to better serving the community. Providing a one-stop integrated access to digital maps and geospatial information of public facilities in Hong Kong, GeoInfo Map and MyMapHK have been well-received by the end users. In view of the uprising spatial awareness and the public’s needs for open data, LandsD is now developing a geohub for Hong Kong for opening up spatial datasets for reuse and dissemination of geo-enabled Public Sector Information (PSI) and for facilitating spatial data sharing among stakeholders and users. This seminar discusses how spatially enabled data can make an impact on bringing better living and convenience to the members of the public and evolving Hong Kong into a smarter city.
