Rapid urbanization in Asia is fueling urban development and hence real estate development. But as Alex Notay, Build to Rent Fund Director at UK-based PfP Capital, said at Global Real Estate Experts earlier this year, “Cities only work when you think about the people”. As professional practicing in the built environment we all have a part to play in ensuring sustainable development of our planet and cities, as well as, to improve the quality of living to protect property value and growth of our city.

This talk traces the origin of cities and urban development from the Neolithic Revolution to challenges face by cities in the development process.  Some of the measures taken to mitigate issues and their importance would be described, such as the reason for the Paris Agreement.  There will also be discussion on trends in the world that might have impact on property development in Asia in future.
