The human liver, with up to 500 functions including regenerative function, is a significant organ of the human digestive system. In Hong Kong, a poor lifestyle has led to higher occurrence of liver diseases at a younger age. Fatty Liver Disease, hepatitis A and B, liver fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer are all common liver diseases. According to Hong Kong Cancer Registry (HKCaR) in 2014, liver cancer ranked number 4 in the most common cancers in Hong Kong, highlighting the fact that liver health should not be ignored.

Intuitive Surgical-Fosun (Hongkong) Co., Limited is proactively taking up social responsibility to arouse public awareness on health management by liaising with various institutions to organize free health seminars for staff/members. With a view to increasing society’s understanding on liver health, we have invited Dr. Kit-Fai Lee, the Clinical Associate Professor (Honorary) in the Department of Surgery, Prince of Wales Hospital, the Chinese university of Hong Kong.

Dr. Lee is interested in a wide variety of hepatobiliary diseases and on surgical technique in liver resection, pancreatic resection, laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He is involved in a number of studies on techinique in liver resection, local ablation treatment and transarterial therapy for liver cancer. Dr. Lee has more than 100 reviewed publications on topics related to hepatobiliary diseases and general surgery. He is enthusiastic about public welfare, with a hope to draw public’s attention on the importance of liver health and the treatment of liver diseases.
