Speaker : Sr Antony Man

Sr Man is the Senior Project Manager of the Campus Development Office, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is now responsible for the capital development as well as the A&A works of the University. Antony gained his experience through a wide spectrum of projects for the past thirty years such as the Design and Construction of the Tamar Central Government Complex and the Legislative Council Complex, Terminal 2 of the Hong Kong International Airport, Flight Catering Facility at Taoyuan, Taipei, HIPS and GPPS Plant at Yuen Long Industrial Estate, Confectionery Plant at Guangzhou, Refuse Transfer Stations and Facilities, Landfill Sites, In-town Check-in Facilities of the Airport Express Line, Term Contract for all properties of CLP Power, Renovation works for the HKJC Off Course Betting Branches and ArchSD Minor Works Packages of water sports centre at Stanley, open space, footbridges and markets improvement works, etc.

Sr Man is a PRC Registered Cost Engineer (RCE) and Fellow Member of the China Cost Engineering Association (FCCEA). He was the Chairman of the Quantity Surveying Division (2010 - 2011) and is the current Chairman of the Joint Mediation Helpline Office (JMHO) since 2013. Sr Man is also a member of the Steering Committee on the Consultancy Study on Seismic-resistant Design Standards for Buildings in Hong Kong (Buildings Department).

In this talk, Sr Man will share his experience through a discussion of the following:

1. Effective way for preparing the payment valuation
2. Main issues to be taken care for payment valuation
3. Proactive mindset for post-contract cost monitoring
4. Defensive approach/ partnering – in view of claim submitted

The purpose of the QSD PQSL 2020 is to help QSD probationers and Associate members to enrich the basic knowledge in quantity surveying practice and prepare for the APC examinations. There shall be various series of PQSL events, namely Measurement, Procurement, Standard Form of Building Contract, Contract Administration and Specialization which cover various topics such as Measurement Techniques, Measurement of Building Works and Building Services Installations, Tendering, Report on Tenders, Variation and Post-Contract Cost Control, Payment Valuation and Final Accounts, Contractual Arrangement, Liquidated Damages and Extension of Time, Direct Loss and Expense Claims, Dispute Resolution, Liquidation and etc.
