This seminar contains two parts.

Part 1: Virtual city environment reconstruction and applications

With the fusion of social space, physical space and information space, smart city is proposed for solving the problems of traditional urban management and urban governance. Virtual city environment serves as a base plate of smart cities, which is able to fusion multi-source data from city daily.

Dr. Tang will share how data from city daily are integrated into 3D city model and show some typical applications on transportation and urban management. Besides, the speaker would also introduce a complete solution on indoor 3D and panorama acquisition system, which is widely used in house property and indoor navigation.

Part 2: Boundary re-establishment in the era of digital twin

In the era of digital twin, modelling and visualization on what can be done (rights), what cannot be done (restrictions) and what must be done (responsibilities) on land urges the paradigm shift of the operation of land surveying. The proliferation of BIM and 3D Cadastre further pushes a shift in focus from land parcels to property objects.

In this talk, Dr. Zhang will introduce various forms of land and cadastral boundaries. Selected boundary dispute cases involving different boundary re-establishment approaches will be introduced and discussed. The speaker will also share his view on several scenarios which the boundary re-establishment service is required in a “smart-ready” city.
