Details :

Data centers have emerged as one of the hottest commercial real estate sectors, thanks to the rise of e-commerce and the widely use of digital products in recent years. The pandemic further strengthened the demand for high standard data facilities after a year full of e-meetings and online classes, which bring people together, virtually. Being a global financial hub, Hong Kong has benefited from its well-established telecommunications infrastructures and highly skilled workforce. In addition, low tax rates and minimal environmental risks are also appealing to data center investors and operators as they consider setting up facilities in the city.

Notably, China Mobile paid a record price in July last year to acquire a development site in Shatin for building its first data center development in Hong Kong. Likewise, a Singaporean investor, Mapletree, recently announced its data center development plan on an industrial site they recently acquired.

In this webinar, John will give an overview of the domestic market and provide his insights on where the opportunity lies. He will also talk about the challenges and constraints on the growth of the data center market in Hong Kong.
