Details :

Vicky Chan, Chairman of Walk DVRC and Architect of K-farm, will share how architects can get more involved with community projects especially related to farming in Hong Kong. Since 2012, he has been working with architectural projects with agricultural elements. Vicky believes that farm and food can be the bonding element that brings nature, people, and design together. For the pedestrianization scheme with Walk DVRC, he will explain how planting and sustainable benefit is the number 1 desired item that helps the project to get approval with District Council. The scheme called for a half pedestrianization on Des Vouex Road Central from Hillier to Morrison Street for 90 days. Vicky will also share the traffic analysis and struggle behind this ambitious project. Trees, crops and seating will be placed on site during this 90-day trial. With K-farm, he will explain how smart technology can help to make farming inclusive and weather-proof. The farm has track record to improve the ecosystem of Central and Western District since the opening in October 2020.
