Details	:	Innovation is of great importance to the sustainable development of the Hong Kong construction industry, Hence, the Construction Industry Council (CIC) has set up the Research and Technology Development Fund to provide financial support for research projects which can improve the performance and competitiveness of the industry. The "BIM-Automation of Gross Floor Area (GFA) Calculation, Fire Safety and Prescribed Checking for General Building Plans (GBP) Preparation” is one of the research and development projects funded by the CIC and conducted by Building Information Technology Limited. The project is also supported by the Urban Renewal Authority (URA). The objectives of the research project are to: - Develop a software tool with a function of automating the calculation of GFA to meet statutory requirements; and - Develop a function of automating checking and calculating of Fire Safety and Prescribed Checking with BIM model to meet statutory requirements. Highlight of the research product (the "Plugin"): - The ONLY available plugin based on Hong Kong regulations and practices to automatically calculate GFA, Means of Escape, and Sanitary Fitments etc., and generate related plans for BD submission. - The plugin has been applied and tested in an URA project. The difference between GFA calculation using traditional method and the results from the plugin is less than 0.5%. - Experts from the URA, BD, Architectural Services Department, Housing Department and Independent Control Unit of Housing Authority have reviewed and provided comments to this research project. The CIC thanks for their contribution.
Remarks	:	The event will be conducted online via ZOOM. Successful registrants will be notified separately via email with the web link in due course to the online event. 1.	The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
2.	A registration number will be generated for each application. The registration number is unique and non-transferrable. Members cannot proceed to payment if they do not apply the CPD event and obtain the registration number through the HKIS website.
3.	Payment can be made by cheque or by Credit Card (Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd. / American Express). Cheques should be made payable to “SURVEYORS SERVICES LTD.”. A separate cheque or Credit Card payment instruction form is required for each event/ application. You should write down the registration number and HKIS membership number at the back of your cheque. The HKIS Secretariat will update the payment status and your application will be confirm when HKIS Secretariat receive your payment.
4.	Payment by PayPal is also acceptable. Please register in our web site before the closing date for each event. Please be reminded that if you cannot settle the payment within 7 days from the date the HKIS Secretariat accepted your registration, your registration number will be invalid and your application will be rejected. Your name will not be included in the registration list and you cannot attend the concerned CPD event. (Not applicable for site visit / social event / joint event with other organisation)
5.	An official receipt which must be presented at the event, will be available for downloading from the "CPD Profile" under Members Corners when payment is received.
6.	Incomplete or wrongly completed registration will not be processed.
7.	In the event a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted, the event will be postponed and a new arrangement will be announced. Should the aforesaid warnings be lowered 4 hours before the event, the event will proceed as normal.
8.	If you have not received any reply from HKIS Secretariat within 7 days of the event, you may call the Secretariat at 2526 3679 to check the progress of your registration.
9.	The HKIS reserves the right of final decision and interpretation in the case of any disputes.

3.	While the HKIS has arranged Group Personal Accident insurance for members joining the above visit, members who have been accepted for joining the above visit can consider procuring an appropriate insurance policy to cover their own risks before attending the event.
4.	Claims related to COVID-19 and/or pandemics are excluded under the insurance policy procured by the HKIS.
