The Pokfulam Farm

The Pokfulam Farm Revitalization Project is under the Batch IV Revitalization Scheme of the Development Bureau. It was co-designed and co-operated by Caritas Hong Kong and Pokfulam Village Cultural Landscape Conservation Group. It aims at setting the stage for creating and demonstrating the distinctive value of the Pokfulam Cultural Landscape with a unique history of agriculture industry.

The Pokfulam Farm was formerly the Old Dairy Farm Senior Staff Quarters which was constructed in 1887 and currently rated as Grade I historic building. The Farm was restored to its historical appearance in 1919. It will display the artefacts, oral history records and related historical documents which facilitates the public to know more about the history and operation of the Old Dairy Farm and its connection with the community. In addition, a new simple structure has been constructed to provide space for dairy and bakery workshops which can echo with the history of the Old Dairy Farm.

The building serves as the entrance to Pokfulam, from which the public would learn about the history of the place. With the adoption of a community perspective, the Farm would provide docent tours, workshops and different experiential learning opportunities in order to demonstrate the history of the Old Dairy Farm and link it up with the surrounding settlement culture, promoting lifestyle diversity and appreciation of the nature. It also mobilises social capital to promote and support sustainable development of the entire community.
