Speaker	:	Dr. Roger So Dr So is a Barrister-at-Law, a Chartered Engineer, an experienced accredited mediator, an arbitrator and an adjudicator. He is also a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators and a Corporate Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He is a panel mediator of the Hong Kong Mediator Accreditation Association Limited (HKMAAL) and appears on the List of Mediators and List of Arbitrators administered by the Hong Kong Bar Association, on the List of Arbitrators and Mediators maintained by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, on the Panel of Mediators and Panel of Adjudicators maintained by the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators and a current and active Panel Arbitrator of the Hong Kong Arbitration Society. Dr So has a broad civil and criminal practice, including construction disputes, general commercial disputes, shareholders’ disputes, property disputes, building management disputes, matrimonial and family disputes, personal injuries disputes, etc. He regularly appears for prosecution and defence in criminal cases. He has served as the legal advisor to a Disciplinary Tribunal in addition to handling many civil proceedings. Prior to becoming a barrister in 2016, he has been a chartered electrical engineer since 1997 with over 20 years of engineering and project management experience specialising in the design and construction of railway extensions in Hong Kong and overseas. His academic credentials include Doctor of Business Administration (The University of Newcastle, Australia), PCLL, JD, MA in Arbitration & Disputes Resolution, and BSc (Hon) Engineering. Dr So has delivered over twenty CPD seminars (2-hr or 3-hr each) accredited by the Law Society of Hong Kong and/or the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited, including “Construction Disputes – How to Prove and Defend such Claims?” and “Water Seepage Disputes – How to prove and defend such claims?”. Besides, he is a regular contributor to the Building Management Journal, in which he has published 22 Chinese journal articles on Water Seepage Claims, Interlocutory Injunctions and various building management issues. Dr So is also the Annotator of the Annotated Ordinances of Hong Kong, Cap. 319, Foreign Judgments (Reciprocal Enforcement) Ordinance published by LexisNexis, and the co-author of the Chinese book on building management 【屋簷下共處 -多層大廈不同持份者的法律權益】. He has also won some engineering awards and published several engineering articles. Dr So has also been appointed as Chairman of the Appeal Tribunal (Buildings) for 3 years commencing on 1 December 2021, and a member of the Advisory Panel on Licensing of Hotels and Guesthouses for 2 years commencing on 1 December 2020.

1.	The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
2.	A registration number will be generated for each application. The registration number is unique and non-transferrable. Members cannot proceed to payment if they do not apply the CPD event and obtain the registration number through the HKIS website.
3.	Payment can be made by cheque or by Credit Card (Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd. / American Express). Cheques should be made payable to “SURVEYORS SERVICES LTD.”. A separate cheque or Credit Card payment instruction form is required for each event/ application. You should write down the registration number and HKIS membership number at the back of your cheque. The HKIS Secretariat will update the payment status and your application will be confirm when HKIS Secretariat receive your payment.
4.	Payment by PayPal is also acceptable. Please register in our web site before the closing date for each event. Please be reminded that if you cannot settle the payment within 7 days from the date the HKIS Secretariat accepted your registration, your registration number will be invalid and your application will be rejected. Your name will not be included in the registration list and you cannot attend the concerned CPD event. (Not applicable for site visit / social event / joint event with other organisation)
5.	An official receipt which must be presented at the event, will be available for downloading from the "CPD Profile" under Members Corners when payment is received.
6.	Incomplete or wrongly completed registration will not be processed.
7.	In the event a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted, the event will be postponed and a new arrangement will be announced. Should the aforesaid warnings be lowered 4 hours before the event, the event will proceed as normal.
8.	If you have not received any reply from HKIS Secretariat within 7 days of the event, you may call the Secretariat at 2526 3679 to check the progress of your registration.
9.	The HKIS reserves the right of final decision and interpretation in the case of any disputes.
