The Shaw Auditorium had a high atrium headroom and excellent acoustic design. The flexible configuration of the multi-purpose auditorium with retractable seating and lifting platform at the center of the hall allow it to be an art and culture hub for wide range of activities and events like music performance, exhibition and drama show etc.

The unique design of the building massing and balcony overhang emphasizes the urban ventilation and sun-shading, which allow the building to have significant saving in energy consumption and achieve sustainability. The Shaw Auditorium also adopt environmentally-friendly design for the indoor air quality, the use of rapidly renewable material and high greenery coverage to achieve the BEAM Plus Platinum grade.
