Introduction:

The HKIS Senior Members Committee (SMC) invited cardiologist Dr Lo Ka Yip David and oncologist Dr Joseph Au to deliver a talk on coronary artery disease and the latest development of cancer treatment.

Dr Lo will be talking on coronary artery disease( 冠心病), early detection and the do and don't after percutaneous coronary intervention (angioplasty/ balloon angioplasty)(俗稱「通波仔」手術).  Dr Au will talk about the cutting-edge technologies for detecting and diagnosing cancer early, and the new treatments such as immunotherapy and targeted therapies that contrast with conventional chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Dr. David Lo Ka-Yip is currently the Resident Consultant Cardiologist in Hong Kong Adventist Hospital – Stubbs Road. Before joining his current post, he worked as Consultant Cardiologist and Director of Cardiac Intervention Center in HK public hospital.

His expertise is in complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) like intervention in left main coronary artery disease, triple vessels disease, calcified lesions, and chronic total occlusion. He is also experienced in pacemaker implantation including leadless pacemaker implantation. He obtained Hong Kong Heart Foundation Travelling Scholarship and underwent overseas fellowship training in the field of Interventional Cardiology at Centre hospitalier universitarire vaudois (CUHV), Lausanne, Switzerland. He is the organizer and moderator in various academic meetings and educational programs (HKPHCA Fish & CHIP club and Annual Scientific Meeting, HKCC Fellowship Training Course and Annual Scientific Congress...etc)

Dr. Lo is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Medicine & Therapeutics, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Honorary Treasurer of Hong Kong Public Hospital Cardiologists Association and Council Member of the Hong Kong College of Cardiology

 

Dr Au Siu Kie, Joseph

Head and Consultant of Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Oncology Centre

 

Dr Au is the President of Hong Kong Lung Cancer Study Group, Hong Kong Precision Oncology Society and co-founder of Hong Kong Neuro-oncology Society. He is the Head and Consultant of Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Oncology Centre, with special interest in translational research, precision oncology and the management of lung, breast and colorectal cancers. Formerly, he was the Chairman of the Research Committee and the Coordinator of Research and Ethics Committee in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and Honorary Associate Professor in Clinical Oncology of University of Hong Kong.

His main research interests include clinical trials in lung cancer, translational research, functional genomics and proteomics, and advanced radiotherapy technologies. He has published extensively and is the reviewer or editor of many international journals.
