Sr Mickey NG is a Land Surveyor working in the Remote Sensing Data Analysis Section of Lands Department. He is also the Honorary Secretary of Young Surveyor Group (YSG) of HKIS this year. He was delegated by HKIS to give a keynote speech in Plenary Session entitled ‘Unlocking the XYZ Value: Smarter Working in Digital Transformation’ at the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) Working Week 2023 in Orlando, Florida, USA, held from 28 May to 1 Jun 2023. In the speech, he shared his views and insights on how digital transformation is changing the field of geospatial industry and how this is enabling smarter working practices.

FIG, which was founded in 1878, is the premier international organization representing the interests of surveyors worldwide. It is a federation of the national member associations and covers the entire range of professional fields within the global surveying, land management, land administration, geomatics, geodesy and geo-information community. It provides an international forum for discussion and development aiming to promote professional practice and standards.

FIG Working Week 2023 was held in Orlando from 28 May to 1 Jun, with the aims to highlight the key role that the surveying professionals, from the land, built and natural environments and geospatial sectors, have in making the sustainable development agenda a reality.

As part of HKIS’s delegation, Sr NG attained the working week event and deliver a keynote speech in Plenary Session. He would like to share some stories about the following topics:
