Dr Joseph Chan is a Senior Lecturer at the College of Professional and Continuing Education, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He started his surveying profession as a quantity surveyor in 2005 by joining a local leading quantity surveying consulting firm. He is serving as a Council Member in Quantity Surveying Division of HKIS. As a researcher in field of construction management, he has produced over 30 publications in refereed journal papers, internationally refereed conference papers, consultancy reports, and other written outputs.


Dr. Kelwin Wong
BEng, MSc, PhD

Dr Kelwin Wong is currently a Lecturer at the College of Professional and Continuing Education of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His teaching and scholarly interests are in the areas of sustainability in the built environment, construction technologies and building materials. He previously also worked on a number of consultancy projects and studies for the construction industry and the government. Dr Wong is an active academic, having authored / co-authored over 15 publications (journal papers, conference papers and book chapter). He served as reviewer for a number of journals such as Built Environment Project and Asset Management, Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Civil Engineering, and Sustainable Development.

In this talk, Dr. Chan will present a framework for developing remote experiential learning content to serve as reference and provide guidance for educators who wish to plan and develop their own experiential learning content to suit their specific subject needs. Dr Wong will share his experience based on a remote site tour of Tai Kwun conducted in a class for surveying and building engineering and management students, as well as the evaluation of students’ learning and feedback from students on this remote site tour.
